BOSTON'S BAD BIRDS

BELOW ARE BIRD PHOTOS I'VE CAUGHT AROUND BOSTON.

I WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN THESE 3 BIRDS ARE HIGHLY UNDESIRABLE AND CAUSE MUCH DAMAGE.

ACCORDING TO AMERICAN BIRD SOCIETY: THESE 3 BIRDS ARE IN THE TOP 7 MOST INVASIVE BIRD SPECIES IN THE U.S.

EUROPEAN STARLING
BAD BECAUSE: ESTIMATED THESE BIRDS COST AROUND $800 MILLION IN CROP DAMAGE EACH YEAR IN THE U.S.

ROCK PIGEON
BAD BECAUSE: CARRY MANY HARMFUL PATHOGENS AND PARASITES; INCLUDING AVIAN INFLUENZA.

HOUSE FINCH
THEY HAVE LESS IMPACT ON OTHER U.S. BIRD SPECIES. BUT, IT APPEARS THEY DO AFFECT PURPLE FINCHES BY OVERLAPPING COMPETITION.
